IT head compositing breakdown - We Lost Our Human (Netflix, 2023):
This brief video gives a peek at how I designed and documented the compositing technique for IT’s translucent, glitchy hologram FX, combining 2D Harmony animation with layered Fusion effects.
At first I designed the FX to be software-agnostic, ensuring our vendor team could reproduce the look without unessicarilly relying on 3rd-party plugins or overscoping the pipeline. In the end we developed macros to speed up this shading process.
